The concept of micro-needling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself when it suffers physical damage such a cuts, burns, abrasions or other injuries. Immediately after an injury to the skin, our body begins the healing process, triggering new collagen synthesis. The micro-needling device that intentionally creates very superficial “micro-injuries” to the outermost layer of the skin to induce the healing process that includes new collagen production. Before your treatment

You should try to avoid Accutane 6 months prior to treatment
3 days prior to dark spots treatment avoid retinoids, antibiotics, exfoliants, sunburn, benzoyl peroxide, and other similar things.
7 days before your treatment you should avoid all laser treatments
Refrain from waxing, using depilatory creams, or electrolysis
Do not make any significant changes to your skin like a breakdown of cells, excess dryness, or sunburn
Do not apply lotion, oil, makeup, deodorant, powder, perfume, and sunscreen
Ensure that you don’t have any cold sores, warts, open sores, inflammatory rosacea and sensitive skin in the area you wish to treat

What to expect

Micro-needling is performed using A PEN. The PEN micro-needling procedure is performed in a safe and precise manner with a single-use, sterile needle head. The treatment sessions usually takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated. Throughout the procedure, activated agents will be applied to stimulate rejuvenation process. Then a hydrating facial mask will be applied for hydration. After the procedure, your skin will be red with minimal swelling and/or bruising, and it might feel tight and sensitive to the touch. Although these symptoms may take 2-3 days to resolve completely, they will diminish significantly within a few hours after the treatment.

Frequency of treatments

Due to the intensive exfoliation, without irritation to the skin, Micro-needling is recommended as follows:

Post Care for Micro-Needling

Use a gentle, fragrance-free clean
Minimal, healing skincare: follow the serum products recommended by your esthetician
No working out or heavy physical activity
Stay out of the sun, wear a wide-brimmed hat to shield your face and apply a high SPF sunscreen that’s also moisturizing, your aesthetician will make recommendations
Face makeup could introduce dirt and bacteria to your skin, avoid wearing makeup for the first few days
Avoid picking and/or peeling the skin during the healing period
Avoid any and all skincare products containing retinoids, vitamin C, Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) or Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHAs). No scented products
No exfoliation, scrubbing, rubbing or facial treatments such as lasers, peels or waxing

Risks of Micro-Needling

Although majority of the clients do not experience any complications with micro-needling, it is important to understand the risks to exist. The micro-needling procedure is minimally invasive and uses a set of microneedles to inflict multiple, tiny, punctures/lacerations to the outermost layer of the skin. Because micro needling penetrates the skin, it inherently carries health risks, including but not limited to: infection, pigment/colour change, allergic reaction, persistent redness, itching, and/or swelling, pain, or scarring.
